The History of every major Galactic Civilisation tends to pass through three distinct and recognisable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why and Where phases.

“For instance, the first phase is characterised by the question How can we eat? the second by the question Why do we eat? and the third by the question Where shall we have lunch?”

So, where should we have our end of year meal?

19th May 2011

This year we walked away from the societies awards with some big smiles and some lovely, shiny trophies. Oh, and just a smidge of de ja vu.

For the second year in a row, we took away the award for Best Webpage. The Guild of Societies remarked upon our use of social media (if you’re not following us on Twitter, you should! @hpsoc) and the character of the content of the site.

We also won runner-up for Most Imaginative Event: The Triwizard Tournament.

Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of the society this year. We couldn’t have done it without you. Here’s hoping next year is just as successful!

The Committee

Our penultimate social of the year is the People’s Choice Social. That means you get to vote on what we do. Suggestions are listed below, so please vote.

The committee reserves the right to make the final decision on the social depending on what can be organised in time.

The poll will close on Sunday evening, so be sure to vote before then.

What should the People's Choice Social be?

Camping Trip

Darlings! Aren’t we being droll, spamming you to high heaven with messages of assault courses (the activity, not learning how to assault people) and treasure hunts.

But, alas, none of it will happen if you don’t get your bums in gear and sign up here.

It’s only a £5 deposit, and dears is will be fun! Registration will close on Friday, so come along! It will be a lark, honest!

Anyway, sorry to spam you to no end,

‘I’m sorry I questioned you, Spike. You know I admire your brain almost as much as your washboard abs.’

A bit of a Buffybot clue there ’cause it’s time for a brain workout!

Yes, that’s right, it’s Quiz Night. It’ll be at Bar 33 at the super groovy time of 7.30pm.

In other news, Charlotte will be taking orders for Hoodies at the next few meetings and they should come in at about £19 each.

Also, the society AGM has been held and the committee for next year has been voted on and decided:

President: Suzie Nockles
Treasurer: Marc John
Secretary: Bethan Edwards
Quiz Witch: Charlotte Cumper
Social Secretaries: Rose Hancock and Danielle Gardiner
Charity Witch: Sam Jenkins

Heads of Houses for next year will be:

Gryffindor: Bethan Edwards
Hufflepuff: Gemma Whitefield
Ravenclaw: Rhys Tobin
Slytherin: Kirsty Lewis

I will be sending an email out later in the week with details about the ~Camping Trip~ so we can begin to get an estimate on numbers.
